Current Practice
Ms. Madigan has exclusively practiced family law since her admission to the California State Bar in 2006. She has experience with high-confict custody disputes, as well as with the division of complex assets such as stock options, pension plans, business and venture capital interests, and real estate investments.
Background
Ms. Madigan was born and educated in Canada. In 1997, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Distinction, in Psychology from the University of Victoria. In 2001, she graduated from the University of Alberta Law School.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Madigan was hired to work for Alexander, Holburn, Beaudin & Lang, a prominent Canadian law firm. She spent several years there, gaining invaluable civil litigation experience in the following areas: motion practice, depositions, bench trials, and appeals. In addition, she received mediation training and attended numerous mediations and settlement conferences. She was also actively involved in the community, volunteering as an advocate for women who were navigating the Family Court system without representation.
Prior to founding Seeley & Madigan, LLP, she was an associate with Hersh Family Law Practice in San Francisco.
Distinctions
In the case of Enright v. Marwick, 28 B.C.L.R. (4th) 276, 2004, Ms. Madigan appeared as Second-chair counsel for the Respondent before the Court of Appeal of British Columbia, earning a favorable outcome for her client. The case was reported in legal journals and is a leading precedent in the area of personal injury law.
